Its no longer news as candidates and the general public are fully awara that the first ever UTME mock hasbeen postponed to a “yet to be disclosed” date by the Joint Admission Maltriculation Board (JAMB). Similarly The UTME registration deadline was also extended by a two week margin,Meaning that under the new arrangements, the examination will commence on Saturday, May 13th and end on Saturday, 20th May 2017.

Below are the reasons why JAMB Postponed UTME Mock And Registrations UTME Examination

  • Logistics And Technical Issues

JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Disclosed on Saturday in his speech that one of the major reasons for the extension is as a result of logistics and technical issues being experienced by the board over the UTME registrations.
In his speech he said “Meanwhile, the Mock Examination earlier slated for Saturday, April 8, 2017 has been put on hold. This is because the appropriate rehearsal and test-running of the new system has not been substantially achieved”.

It is obvious from the statement that proper tests have not been conducted on the system to determine its effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Full Candidate Registration

Many candidates have encountered so many issues and difficulties from the new UTME registration procedure especially with the e-pin. Some candidates who have paid for the e-pin are yet to get notified due to one issue or the other.

In as much as about one million (1,000,000) candidates have successfully completed their registrations, it is not an indicator that every other person have been successful with the registration. So in favour of those facing some problems with the registration, JAMB want to make sure it captures every student who want to be a part of the 2017 UTME hence the extension of the registration deadline.

  • More Successful Examination

JAMB want to conduct a smooth and hitch-free UTME this year, hence JAMB boss is doing everything possible to make sure this goal is achieved. In a press briefing on the 8th, the JAMB boss stated:

“At this moment, we have realized that the plan to hold this Mock Examination was good for us. We are now in a better position to achieve better than we would have done without this trial testing. This is why the exercise is at no cost to the candidates”.
“It is our strong conviction that this exercise is an experience for us. Our systems analysis has revealed interesting findings that will engender a seamless and successful 2017 UTME exercise”.

Judging from the reasons given by the Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede,i believe that the changes made so far are in the best interest of the candidates, we hope this year UTME will be free from hitches and probably the best so far.
